The Secret Mistress (Mistress Trilogy #3) - Mary Balogh 3.5 stars. Not my favorite of hers (that honor belongs to Slightly Dangerous) but still a good read.
I think this was, though, my favorite of the "Mistress" series. How she worked the mistress aspect into this novel a bit misleading. Don't keep waiting for Edward to offer to make Angeline his mistress as I did for chapter upon chapter.

What really worked for me was the character of Edward. I loved how he was aware of his "stick in the mud" personality and how he grew to be more understanding of Angeline's good qualities as well as his own.

What I also like about this book was that it didn't have so many plot similarities as some of her other books do. There was no fake engagement. No Big Misunderstanding that simple conversation couldn't resolve. The conflict between Angeline and Edward was unique and eventually resolved in a believable fashion.
