Playing for Keeps - R.L. Mathewson 1.5 stars

It isn't terrible - just not as good as I had hoped given all the positive reviews on this site.

It was all just too much for me. If I could have suspended my disbelief more, I might have enjoyed it.
But as it was, I found so much of the book hard to swallow. Her uber-rich family was so one-dimensional. Haley's transformation from shy to feisty felt unnatural. Jason going from rotten neighbor to swell fellow also seemed unnatural. The whole bit with them just "sleeping" together was ridiculous and corny. I could go on and on but I won't. Because I never warmed up to either Haley or Jason, I found the romantic/sexual tension completely lacking and I found myself skimming the last 30% of the book.

So this is yet another romance novel that you'll either love or not. I'm in the "not" category.
