Seven Secrets of Seduction (Secrets, #1) - Anne Mallory While there were aspects to this book that I enjoyed, the aspects that I didn't enjoy overshadowed them and this is only a 2 Star read for me.

I liked the overall premise of the book. Maxim is a viscount trying to seduce Miranda, a bookstore worker. She is smart, observant and pragmatic and doesn't instantly fall prey to his plans for seduction. The viscount, though, is not very likable and doesn't really redeem himself, even by the end. Part of the reason I had trouble warming up to him is that his POV is very limited, especially in the first half of the book. I also found the sexual tension rather lacking and the sex scenes very vague and anticlimactic.

My biggest issue, however, is with the prose. It's so ornate and overworked that I had a hard time following what the author was trying to say or convey. As a result, I didn't fully understand Maxim's motivations nor Miranda's reasons for finally letting herself be seduced.
