Not my favorite book by Julie James but still heads and tails above most contemporary romances. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this. The sarcasm and funny banter were great. I love smart, capable heroines like Rylann. She reminded me of a cross between Angie Harmon (Law&Order) and Tina Fey. Sexy, smart and funny.
I think what kept it from being a 5 star read for me was the lack of real conflict and limited sexual and romantic tension. Kyle seemed much younger than 35. Not sure why that was. What also struck me as odd about him was that he was such a beta hero when fully clothed, but get him naked and he turned a little alpha caveman like. Not that it was a turn-off, but it did seem out of character or not fully explained.
Highly recommend if you like funny, smart, sexy character driven romances.
